Jan Mládek is currently director The Czech Institute of Applied Economics, Ltd. He graduated at Prague School of Economics in 1983. PhD. he received from Institute of Forecasting Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1990, where he was working as scientific worker in the between the years 1984 and 1990. In 1991-1992 he was advisor to the minister and later deputy minister in Federal ministry of Economy of Czechoslovakia. Afterwards he worked as research fellow in Central European University Prague (1992-1998). In the years 1999-2001 he served as first deputy minister in the Ministry of finance of the Czech Republic. In this position he represented country in the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C. In the years 2002-2005 he was first time member of Czech Parliament. Later he became for a year Czech Minister of Agriculture in 2005-2006. Between the years 2007 and 2013 he used to be director of the Czech Institute of Applied Economics, Ltd. In the years 2013-2017 he was second time member of Czech Parliament. For more than three years he was minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. Starting 2017 he is once again director The Czech Institute of Applied Economics, Ltd. Mr. Mládek speaks English, Russian, Polish and basic German. He is married with 5 children.
